Things we love

ninja number nine back in the blogging saddle. I thought i might start telling you folk about things the ninja love and recommend. this will hopefully be ongoing, as we love many things.

for today, the ninjas recommend Media Layer. Media Layer are a kickass hosting company. Fantastic reliability, fairly cheap packages, but most of all, THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! now we ninjas are a clever bunch, but there are things even out of our realm of expertise. when we emailed the media layer guys, we had a real person respond almost immediately, and fix all our issues so super fast. We’ve since recommended them to a few people and have gotten similar reports. the Media Layer techs were happy to completely transfer across one clients site and proofing galleries, setting them up to work prefectly. not only was this incredibly helpful, but it also made for a completely seemless transfer between the old and the new hosting company, which is a big deal when you run a business.

the ninjas cannot recommend Media Layer highly enough. Go check them out!

The New Guy

ninja number nine is sick and has been for a few days, so the powers that be decided that i, the lowly intern ninja, should take over posting duties for a day or two.

It’s been an experience, interning with these guys. i was expecting coffee runs, cleaning toilets and general grunt work. apparently though, they’ve got a well tuned system of people for that stuff. i’m quickly learning that you just cant predict just what it is that a ninja internship will involve. So far i’ve hauled dozens of litres of water in the shoulder bucket things, been made to learn, word for word, every second of the karate kid movies (even the one with the girl karate kid in it!), spent 37 hours as a bavarian barmaid (outfit and all!) and been fed a special ninja diet of wasabi pizza and sushi dog (yes, sushi + hot dogs).

and now blog posting. awesome.

i think i’m envious of the crappy jobs normal interns get.

Blogsites

If you’ve been checking out blogs lately, you may have noticed a new trend. Blogsites are the way of the future. Roll your blog and your website into one, and you’ve got a dynamically changing site (which search engines LOVE), and all your content and information in one place.

a fine example of this is Jessica Claire’s blogsite. everything right there, as well as frequent updates.

Blogsites are the new wave. If you’re looking for a convenient and dynamic site, this is the way to go. and of course, we’ll be more than happy to help you out ;)

On a roll!

I’m putting number 11 to shame now. i dont think he posted this many entries at all, let alone with this much regularity. go me!

so we’ve got another link to a recently completed blog. we’ve not long finished up with the Urban Pulse blog. We reworked Renee’s Vibe Resources blog a little while ago, and now that the Pulse one is up and running, Renee tells us she is very happy with both her blogs. I think her exact words were “Now I love both my blogs!”. so go take a look at our handy work and show Renee some love.

Also, keep a look out for a new theme for the 16ninjas blog very soon. Having reworked a number of peoples blogs recently, our own blog is looking a little old hat. I think this will probably be an ongoing problem with all the blogs we’re doing, but at least we get to keep being creative!

And finally, if anyone has any suggestions for tips they’d like to see for setting up and customising a blog, leave us a comment. we’ll be posting weekly tips on blogging, specifically about customisations. everything from where to find thing to how to install widgets or what plugins are useful, and where to find them. Just let us know what you want to see.

Busy busy busy!

The ninjas have been busy little martial artists lately. we’ve been working on a few blog, and figured we might give you folk a look at what we’ve been doing.

firstly, we reworked the j [studios] blog. J wanted more posting space, as well as a blog that tied in with her branding and really gave her a chance to show off her work. we also added a contact form at the top of the blog and space for a bio and head shot.

we also recently completed a blog for Michelle Wells. a nice wide blog for nice wide images, with a flash header and an easy to use navigation bar at the top of the blog.

be sure to go and check out both photographers (and their new blogs!)

Also keep an eye out for a new link of awesome, some blogging tips, and a few interviews in the near future (both of clients and fellow bloggers).

Chain of Command

Sometimes, when you get a number of highly skilled and bravado filled ninjas together, things can get a little rambunctious. rambunctious and comically agressive. ninja 11, our blogging ninja, decided that he shouldn’t have to post blogs, and wanted a ‘cooler’ job (imo being the blog posting ninja would be cool, showing off stuff and pretty much slacking off whenever you’re not posting a blog. easy.).

This lead to a heated exchange between ninja 11 and ninja 1 (the big boss ninjas, in case you weren’t aware), which in turn lead to an honour duel to the death. Well it would have been a duel to the death, but 11 (in all his remarkable talent) tripped over his bo staff and knocked himself clean out. He has since been demoted to housekeeper ninjas, and i, your faithful ninja number nine, will now be your guide to all things in the world of the 16ninjas. maybe now you’ll get more regular updates than once every 3 weeks.

Over the last little while, we’ve been quite busy busy busy. i’ll be putting up a post shortly with some examples of our recent work, so keep an eye out for that! and more links of awesome, and some useful tips for bloggers, and just maybe a couple of freebies!

 i’ll show number 11 how it’s really done ;)

a makeover

it seems that despite all our mad blogging skills, we had a major oversight with our own blog. no one was able to subscribe to our blog feed!

we decided that if we’re gonna do some work on it, we might as well show off some more custom blogging, and re-themed the blog entirely. we’re pretty happy with the new look, but we want to know what all you folk think. leave us a comment and tell us your thoughts.

and keep an eye out for some give aways very soon!

I SUCK!

ninja 13 here, the ‘unlucky’ ninja.

there are a number of things that come along with being the ‘unlucky’ one. take today for example. i got up as i do every day only to step out of bed and into a ‘present’ left for me by the cat. ok, i can deal with that. it sucks, but i can deal. shampoo in the eyes and 3 razor cuts later, i’m making breakfast for Mrs 13 and I. I can honestly say that i never though fire could spread so fast. and who installs a benchtop that is so very flamable? the pan was splattering away with the bacon sizzling when some of the oil happened on to a particularly vigorous flame, and WHOOSH! the whole damned place went up. and unluckiness must be contagious. i think the cat caught it. a few embers floated on to kitties fur, and he was running around like a little fireball (ok, that might have been my good luck rather than his bad. karma for the damned feline!).

and that was all before 8am. im now sitting at work 2 hours later (one fender bender, one ticket and 37 minutes late to work) doing my weekly blog posting duty and wondering what the hell else can go wrong. and this is just a normal day. can you imagine the day i have whenever a friday the 13th rolls around…
